1. Safety, Installation, and Transportation Requirements
A. Safety Precautions
a) The VPSA (vacuum pressure swing adsorption)/PSA (pressure swing adsorption) oxygen generation equipment is a critical system in the production process. Unauthorized personnel, other than operators, are strictly prohibited from entering the oxygen generation area.
b) Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited within PKU Pioneer’s oxygen plant area. If open flames are required for the maintenance of containers or pipelines, proper safety measures must be taken, and approval must be obtained from the safety inspection department before proceeding.
c) The area within the oxygen generation plant boundaries must be kept clean and tidy. Flammable and explosive materials are not allowed to be stored, and no items should block pedestrian walkways to ensure clear access.
d) Operators must undergo safety education and training on operational methods before starting work. They must independently master PKU Pioneer’s operation procedures of the oxygen generation equipment before being allowed to work.
e) Operators must dress neatly and are strictly prohibited from carrying flammable or explosive items into the oxygen plant area. They must strictly follow the instructions provided in the user manual during operation.
f) Warning signs such as "No Open Flames" and "Safety First" must be placed at the entrance and prominent locations inside the oxygen plant workshop to ensure awareness.
g) At least 4 small dry powder fire extinguishers should be equipped within the oxygen generation plant workshop.
h) A grounding and lightning protection system must be installed for the oxygen plant. The grounding connection should use 40×4 mm flat steel, with the grounding electrode buried at a depth of no less than 0.8 meters, and a grounding resistance of no less than 5 ohms.
i) Pressure gauges used in the VPSA oxygen generation equipment must be calibrated annually, and a seal should be affixed after passing the inspection.
j) No pressure-related maintenance work should be performed on PKU Pioneer’s oxygen equipment before depressurization.
k) The airtightness of pipelines and fittings should be inspected every 2 weeks. Any detected leaks must be repaired immediately, and the VPSA/PSA oxygen system should only be restarted after passing inspection.
l) Each set of oxygen equipment is tested and certified before leaving the factory with a certificate of qualification. However, potential damage during transportation and unloading cannot be entirely ruled out. Therefore, a thorough system check should be conducted before the initial startup to prevent malfunctions.
m) The VPSA/PSA oxygen generation equipment uses air as the raw material. It is essential to ensure that the air surrounding remains uncontaminated.
B. Installation and Usage Technical Requirements
a) The VPSA oxygen generation equipment factory should be well-ventilated, and the air compressor intake must be clean and free from contamination.
b) Detailed installation requirements should follow the specifications in PKU Pioneer’s oxygen equipment foundation drawings.
C. Transportation and Storage Conditions
a) During transportation, the VPSA/PSA oxygen generation equipment must be protected against inversion, collision, rain exposure, or severe vibration.
b) The packaged oxygen generation equipment should be stored indoors in a well-ventilated environment, with a relative humidity not exceeding 80% and free from corrosive gases.
2. Equipment Maintenance Requirements
A. Precautions for Use
a) The oxygen tank is classified as a Category I pressure vessel and must undergo regular inspections in accordance with national regulations, as well as be subject to supervision and inspection by the local boiler and pressure vessel inspection authority.
b) During equipment maintenance, ensure that the pressure in the instrument air lines and all pipelines is reduced to zero before disassembling any components.
c) Piping connections must not be made between the components unless the fixed end is securely fastened.
d) Open the flow meter slowly to avoid damaging it due to excessive gas flow velocity.
e) Carefully read the equipment and instrument manual for correct operation. Be fully aware of relevant precautions and undergo the maintenance by strictly following the requirements outlined in the manual.
