PIONEER Wins the Bid for PSA-O2 Plant (6,000Nm3/h,85%)for BF Enriched-Oxygen Combustion in Fangda Steel


In January 2020, the second oxygen production project undertaken by Beijing Peking University Pioneer Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Pioneer) for Fangda Special Steel Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Fangda Special Steel) was formally put into construction and the equipment procurement has been activated currently. This is the second set of VPSA oxygen plant constructed by Pioneer for Fangda Special Steel with the same capacity of 6,000Nm3/h and purity of >85% as the first oxygen production project in 2018. 

According to calculations, Fangda Special Steel has a margin of about 7330Nm3 /h which needs to be met by liquid oxygen, increasing the production costs with the present average domestic price of approx. 800-1200 yuan/t. In order to meet the oxygen demand of blast furnace smelting while reducing liquid oxygen amount and cost, in September 2019, Fangda Special Steel initiated the preparations for the new ZO-6000/85 VPSA oxygen production project in view of the small investment in VPSA oxygen generators and short construction period of the project.

The oxygen injection before the blower this project adopted directly send the product oxygen to the blower inlet pipe and to the blast furnace after mixture. The oxygen provided supplements most of the oxygen margin and reduces the current liquid oxygen amount that needs purchasing. After the project is put into production, the annual cost of liquid oxygen can be reduced by over $6.96 million.

The first oxygen unit supplied by Pioneer runs smoothly with the indicators of product oxygen reaching the design value. The oxygen demand of the blast furnace is fully met, which also laid a good foundation for cooperation with Fangda Special Steel on the second  oxygen production project.
