Why is VPSA and PSA Oxygen Generation Technology "Hot" in the Steel Industry?

The iron and steel industry could be affected by various factors such as the fluctuation of raw material prices, policy impacts, environmental protection policies, international trade barriers, supply and demand of downstream products, macroeconomic development and other integrated factors, so a considerable portion of the iron and steel enterprises set their sights on those technologies that could bring about a rapid increase in production capacity in the context of strict production capacity control, replacement of equal amount and elimination of outdated technologies. Among them, increasing the oxygen enrichment rate of blast furnaces is very realistic and effective. A considerable number of iron and steel enterprises have chosen to expand their oxygen production capacity, and have invested in building several sets of large-scale VPSA oxygen units. 

PSA and VPSA oxygen production technology achieves the separation of oxygen and nitrogen through adsorbents. Since its product is solely enriched oxygen, with no other by-products, it is generally used in front of the blast furnace for oxygen enrichment. Compared with cryogenic technology, it has advantages like lower oxygen cost, shorter construction period, convenient load regulation, simpler operation and higher safety, making it an optimal solution for oxygen-enriched coal injection in blast furnaces. It is highly suitable for improving the production of iron and steel enterprises at the present period.
